Dump trucks at Golden Cross Mine
I spent a number of years working as a miner/mechanic with a mining co back in NZ in the 1990s. Our operations were under-ground while a contractor worked the open-pit with a fleet of Dresser 350 dump trucks and Moxy ADTs. They were loaded by Komatsu & Liebherr diggers. Where there many Dressers...

Re: What is it?
Hi all, The image is of a Euc/Terex TS-24 tractor coupled to a Movall dumper. A civil engineering company in NZ (Cable-Price-Downer) purchased a small fleet of these dumpers mated with A-C TS300 tractors in the 1950s to remove overburden from an open-cast coal mine. They were loaded by 100-RB navvys...

What is it?
Thought I would put this up, anyone have any idea what it was/is?
Clue, The Euc/Terex tractor is not the original prime-mover. Will respond later,

Re: Old Dozers in Action
Hi all, Dont want to steal Deas thunder but this is a photo of a NZ magazine dated 1965 and shows a rope operated blade on a D9G with hingle type rippers. It must have been one of the first to come into NZ I would think. Some of the older operatrors preferred the rope control as they said it gave th...

Couple of tired old girls!!
Found these two derelict Dart dumptrucks on a Chinaclay minesite in Northland New Zealand. There were lying in a paddock along with an early model IHC 2T-75 motorscraper and an old Cat grader, possibly a N#11. All were in a similar condition, rusted and wrecked. What a shame to see equipment go this...

Crane rollover
This happened on a minesite where I was Colliery Engineer back in the 1980s. A 150 ton Grove crane was called in to do several lifts for us. The rig travels on 9 axles to comply with road weight limits and requires a semi trailer to accompany it with the items they remove for travelling etc. These a...

190B & Bucket Wheel.
In an effort to get more production and cut costs, a company in NZ back in the early 1990s replaced a 190B with this Bucket wheel. Not too sure if it was successful or not, had left the industry by then. Took my son and a mate over to see them parked up. Not sure of the make of the Bucket Wheel.

The old 38RB is one of my facorite machines. These old navvys were pretty popular in NZ and there were quite a few around. A quarry that operated about 15 miles from my home town ran three at one stage although not all at once. These two are now parked up, replaced by a hydraulic unit.( will post pi...
