Re: akerman

I think this 40 year old Akerman would make a great candidate for preservation. ;) Jeremy :arrrrgh: I have just been advised that the old girl is to be put up for sale - too big for the company's requirements. I thought she'd be safe there until her 50th birthday. I'm tempted to tak...

Re: Oxfordshire Ironstone Co. Ruston Bucyrus 54

Hi John, A while back now but I've only just found this thread. I think these photos were taken at Peter Court's ironstone quarry north of Banbury - I remember seeing it there around 1995? Peter said it was supposed to be going out to India, but I guess the money never materialised and yes I believe...

Re: akerman

I am very sorry, I did not see this post! Well, there definitely are different articles in the UK-version. No problem. Are they of interest to you? If so and you know someone who could copy or scan them over here in the UK (sorry I can't commit to the time at present) we could get a paper...

Re: Neat dragline model

Found a load more videos on the Bucyrus 10W including a reference to details posted on the 'strip mine.org' forum in 2007, but can't find the site - anyone know the correct address?

The same builder's 9W is to 1/16 scale - maybe the 10W is too?

Re: Neat dragline model

The operation of that second walking dragline is so realistic - makes it very difficult to guess the scale of the model. Can you provide any further info please Martytn?

Re: Tips For Knocking Out Bushings

Obviously no good if you want to re-use them as in your case (inserted wrong way) - but for steel bushes you can run a good bead of weld around the inside. This has the effect of shrinking the bush as the cooling weld bead contracts, thus making it much easier to knock out. Works well on internally ...

Re: What is happen to these companies ?

I think:

Caterpillar bought DJB for the artic dumptruck designs.

Ford Construction division was merged with Fiat -Allis when Ford and Fiat joined forces, the construction side becoming part of Ford New Holland.

Coyote looks like a Zettlemeyer design loader.

Re: ben wyatt of wyatts of snetterton

Has anyone recorded the history of Wyatts? If I have this right, in the 1930s Ben's family moved their entire farm, including all stock and machinery, in one go by train from Scotland down to Norfolk where land was readily available (tenant farmers were abandoning large areas during the '30s). His b...
