Re: PH2 fuel rack bellow replacement tips
2nd pic is definitely a mechanical fuel pump, usually driven off a lobe on the camshaft effectively pumping it via an internal version of the leaver you can see on the outside. The external lever is for priming which you would need if you ran the engine dry or opened any part of the fuel delivery sy...

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Well the good news was that with a bit of tapping from a 5/8" spanner on the steel bracket that secures the throttle cable to the pump and I could bleed it properly and get the engine running...for about 5 minutes...when it cut out again. It was at that point that I decided to take a closer loo...

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Was more thinking of longer term and stopping it from sticking again.
I'm now wondering if there's some gunk in the pump, or if it's just rather worn and this is going to become a regular occurance until a full on rebuild is necessary

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Trying to avoid striping the pump down even the slightest bit as I have had my P38 off the road since November with a leaking Bosch VE injector pump which is now off tge car sitting in a chafing dish awaiting a tear down, so I don't want second injector pump in pieces

Re: '87 3CX Perkins 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
That looks fun.... I'm guessing that a stuck, or sticky, metering valve could explain the sudden stutter, loss of power and cutting out, as well as (once fully stuck) why I can't bleed that second chamber Trying to think of a suitable spray lube to squirt in there that doesn't contain any silicone, ...

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Hum, that's an interesting series of points to ponder there John The JCB had been parked up for a few months and when I went to start it I realised that the stop pull was up because the lever on the pump needs to be pushed back by hand as the spring is too weak to return it. With the lever reset it ...

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Seem to Pete, have fixed an air leak on the lifter pump around the cap screw, replaced the fuel filter as I had a spare (the one I took out was pretty clean), priming the system to the first bleed point on the injector pump was pretty easy from the mechanical pump. With the engine being turned over ...

Re: '87 3CX Perking 4.236 Injector Pump Problem
Resurrecting this thread as once again I ran out of fuel, and am having a hell of a job to get tge JCB running again...properly, and by that I mean I can get the engine running, but only for about 3 or 4 minutes before a couple of stutters and dying. I've been through the normal bleeding process, I'...

Re: For sale - ripper teeth?
Boooo, really could do with a ripper tooth on the JCB for tree roots, but of course I have 45mm pins on the back actor.
