Re: We will remember them

where would we all be right now if it wasn't for them? Thank you all from the son of US Army Air Corp Lt. Col. Russell Ronan-B-24 liberator pilot based out of London 1944-45. He made it home. He never did make it back to London to remember, and give thanks in his own way. He did have some fond memor...

Latest addition to the library

1946 KOEHRING 605 sales brochure. It'd be better if it didn't have the stupid 3-hole punch job (must have been part of a dealer album)

Re: The Halloween Survey

Thank you all for the responses to this survey :claphands: . I think we all agree that it's hard to find a good scary movie these days. I've seen a lot of not so good ones. Seen some that went way overboard on the violence and gore just to get a cult following. And have seen a few that are very good...

The Halloween Survey

It's "devil's night", or the night before Halloween. Since I also collect a lot of dvd movies, which about half of them are horror movies, I figured it might be appropriate to ask: What is your favorite scary movie? Please list only one.....vintage and rating doesn't matter. I'll start thi...

Re: Who do you think you are ?

I know my grandparents on my dad's side came from Ireland, and settled somewhere in Ontario, Canada @ early 1900's. Then moved to the Midland, Michigan area shortly thereafter....As far as I know, there's still a Ronan Street in Midland. Grandparents on my mother's side (the Kotenko's) left Russia (...

Re: hello from michigan

Thanks Renaultman  I'm glad I joined as well. Have learned quite a bit already about old Neal-Unit and Smith crawler crane/excavators....kind of a breath of fresh air since I have already amassed gobs of info on most all of the USA machinery of the same type.
Still more to learn about.

Re: Neal-Unit???

Thank you for the good info. I now know that the model 1720 was the UK version of the US 271-C. Neato! I'd imagine that the "oil-cooled" swing clutches/slew clutches became a necessary feature when folks found out about the heat problem. That feature was advertised as early as 1961 in UNIT...

Re: Smith Rodley

I first learned about SMITH machinery from an article in "Equipment Echoes" (the HCEA magazine) many years ago, which I found very interesting at the time. Seeing these machines in pics on this forum, and seeing the smith-cranes website from the Netherlands really helped me to learn more a...
