From a 1968 brochure. An 18-20 ton crane/convertible excavator. 7/8 cubic yard as a shovel or hoe. 3/4 to 1 cubic yard as a dragline or clamshell......click pic to enlarge :ugeek:

I'm not sure how many 870's were made. Probably not very many. The 870 took over where the 860 left off. Before that it was known as model 86, and before that, model 85. Then the 1970's happened, and LORAIN just concentrated on lift-cranes.......
