Re: Old JCB 3Cs in action

Still slightly regret selling our old power train. I fitted a 4.98 turbo in ours and could it pull. May be why the diff spiders were damaged. Proper designation was a Build 5. It had a Leyland tractor engine coupled to a Borg Warner t/c and shuttle with what was possibly a spicer designed 4sp syncro...

Re: JCB4

Thanks Martyn. I wondered about that, so you could not level up the machine with the jacks/outriggers.

Re: JCB4

How did the stabilizer/jacks work? Never actually seen one in flesh. Think they are quite early with the single crowd ram and round mud guards. The old Major engine must have coughed a bit with the all up weight.
Good pictures

Re: 1989 3CX servicing - HELP

You need to find which method of trans oil checking is correct. It may be a fast idle for 5 mins from cold then stop and dip. Some T/c are dipped whilst on idle. The rear axle must be a grade of oil suitable for wet brakes. As said JCB will help and in the past I found their oil prices compared favo...

Re: Some oldies

Weatherill site started by a Swedish guy name Magnus (he owns a fairly rare early front wheel drive). Due to circumstances at the time he was able to give some time to setting up a site but I would guess work commitments have prevented him from adding much lately.

Re: Some oldies

Two with plates are 42H, possibly of slightly different ages. The oxide is a fairly late 12H and it looks like the cab may tip for access or at least remove easily. If genuine B reg that will be on a Super Major skid but cannot really see if it is manual or t/c. Someone liked to spin a little! I'll ...

Re: HYMAC Backhoe Loader: But what model??

I think I have seen something on the Hymac Club site about the last 180s and a link with euro company. I can't remember which way around the badge engineering worked :dizzy: The rear boom geo looks similar but front is completely different.

Re: Some oldies

Weatherill 42H in main pictures. Built from the early 60s through to the 70s. Early one had the Ford 570E 6cyl with British Twin Disc t/c and Ford drive axel. In their day they were one of the fastest loaders (tho' not off the hard). The other looks like an early 60s 12H (the real early ones had tin...
