Re: George Wimpey (Plant)
Motorways, was based in Stratford upon Avon on the West side in an industrial estate (Manor Road?), they had a fair setup with some good tractors-scrapers and good drivers, the Boss being Pat Barrat who was a cracking chap, I sometimes used to get involved with moving kit (Low Loader) and became ver...

Re: Dick Hampton
I think I first met Charlie on the Defford Air Field a million years ago, he was fixing the prop shaft into a Bedford Fuel Bowser, the usual stuff 3 Bedfords and 1 prop shaft, your dad had a hat with all sorts of junk hanging off it and overalls thick with grease and gunge, but as always a very happ...

Re: LEYLAND 4/98NV WILL NOT REV UNDER LOAD
If you have hooked your Tacho into the W conection on your alternator, you will need to know a bit about the alternator (poles) the W connection is A.C. half main voltage as a more common standard 24v=12v 12v=6v it is easy to set the Tacho like a Durite incorrectly, I use an injector line RPM set up...

Re: British leyland 98mm 6 cylinder
The Bathgate engine in Tractor format was in 3 styles N.T.-D.T. and T.T. with a fuel system setup for Tractor spec' the Truck engines had differing spec fuel injection and parts fitted, the black smoke following you about could be caused by a Thermo-Start fitting located in the inlet manifold that i...

Re: CAT D9H/D8K/D7G MODULAR CABS
D9 19A That sounds like a sprag clutch bearing in the Diesel Torque spitting the dummy out, in front of the Torque is a single plate clutch that is only engaged at low idle, the 19A tractor is not the best beast to give to a young chap with little knowledge of their peculiar running habits, the brak...
