Re: Cleaning injector tips: Good or bad idea?
Depends on the type of injector, the newer types would have me very nervous putting anything of a mechanical nature (cleaning) near the outlet holes. Yes I've seen people run a rotary wire brush right over them ... mostly it's not anything I was dealing with, and ... someone else problem if they ign...

Re: chocolate mousse in the radiator
Pleased to read you got to the bottom of the problem ... and it wasn't much of a head or block corrosion. The gouge didn't help things - and sorted. Most old ag gear isn't a gasket type already primed with a sealant type (meant to be a single tension fix.) I pretty much use copper head gasket spray ...

Re: Anyone any good at alternator bodgery? E1A Major
Really bit late with a reply, but I've done a few alternator conversions. Two were fordsons. The hardest part I found is making the bracket for primary pivot point and the adjusting arm bracket depending on where it's tightening tab is. I recommend the two wire type alternators with built in regulat...

Re: Perkins V8.510 in a Fordson Major
A bit late here, but it was said fordsons, power major onwards at least, the back end could handle 120 hp. They probably wear more though, judging by the 6D engine my ol' man fitted, but I couldn't know if it was always full of oil or not.

Re: SAME Frutteto II 75
No worries. I've grabbed the file and had a look. It's as you say a couple of sections are all over the place along with information bulletins inserted here and there as well as a number of blank pages. I don't think all the pages of the manual are actually there. The electrical pages are more about...

Re: SAME Frutteto II 75
HI there. I've had a look about the net and nothing comes up with a quick search. Later on (tomorrow it's past midnight at the moment) I will have a look though a collection, which many are in Italian, to see if it's there. If you bought it from ebay, was it a pdf on a cd? If so, you could upload to...

Re: For MortL sickle bars
An update: Apparently the blades which the neigbour bought for about four bucks a piece, drilled easy with an ordinary metal drill, so I'm guessing only the cutting edge has been hardened or made of an alloy that work hardens. He's about half way through grinding them to the narrower profile require...

Re: For MortL sickle bars
I think base cutter blades, depending on where they were sourced from, are a bit softer as they bend easier than the hay blades. The main issue I foresee, would be grinding them to half their thickness. I think in all my time carting beside cane harvesters, I've only seen a couple of the topper (whi...
