ian i dont realy have any photos of it in use ,i did get to do a farm track with it some years ago ,but the winch played up and i ended up just dozing it out i think you have taken neversweats comment the wrong way ,as he is the "small" boys uncle and knows he is not "small" any ...

I get bored when i haven't got 1 to fix, so i generally start buliding another one!! Which inevitably leads to buying another one to break for parts to build summat thats bound to break down, bit of a viscious circle i feel!! when i got a D4 cat it sort of took over my spare time ,and now i just do...

yes as far as i know you are heading in the right direction :thumbup:
not having taken on off myself ,but i think you slide the tubes off and you can then see the ends of the rack and the seals
someone else may be able to tell you better

well the seals could be shot or the rack and pinion damaged ,i would say it would be the seals ,as it would /should have made some nasty noises if the rack and pinion had been damaged ,sounds like you need to get the spanners out :thumbup:

ian i even found a ford 4550 18" bucket in there :lol:

welcome john does the arm slew left/right on its own or is it stuck in one position ,also does the slew lever sound like its doing something when operated as for the side shift free it off on the spool block first and then use it to dig some holes with the sideshift in the unlocked position to see i...

yes i have had a few, including to disco,s
the green lwb was the first one i got and i then brought another for spares and built one good one
the one with the bonnet up is a swb and had a perkins in it :roll: pulled like a train but only got to 40 mph flat out :lol:

it had new ropes fitted and one new tyre and has had a bit of use ,and certainly does need painting ,but as of yet not enough time :dizzy:
