Re: Earliest JCB

That digger you are referring to is a JCB 1 which was manufactured in 1963. It only weighed 2.5 tonne hence the Petter PH2. A JCB 1 is early but not as early as a Mk1 Excavator.

Re: Earliest JCB

Craig, apparently so but it was very close. International Harvesters Hough- Wainroy has a claim too. This picture was taken in 1951/ 1952 but there is only evidence of International promoting the combination as early as 1954. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/2355_26PHYJ4N5PFOK146...

Re: Earliest JCB

The Major Loader came first in 1949. Joe Bamford on a trip to Norway in 1952 bought a tractor mounted backhoe and apparently from the outset saw the backhoe as the perfect way to compliment the Major Loader and vice versa. JCB make the JCB Trencher first in 1952 based on the Norwegian creation and t...

Re: JCB 3c MK3 new addition

There is a handful of them around Ulster Robin. There is a 3Cmk2 with the Brockhouse transmission in Ballynahinch with extending dipper which is very rare. BC Plant sold a number of them with extending dipper. I scrapped one that had the extending dipper removed that was sold from BC plants from new...

Re: JCB 3c MK3 new addition

That's a very rare spec on a manual transmission 3C. Was this on ebay recently? Is the gearbox 5x2 or 3x3?

If your steering is heavy you'll need to clean the steering pump strainer.

Re: jcb yellow

I think its RAL 1003 Signal Yellow. The mk1 range was Traffic yellow 1023. And then the black cab 3CX's kicked off the chrome yellow RAL 1007. I could be wrong though.

Re: Hymac 370C oils and lubes?

Ian, why do you not like the Ford 3 cylinder? I have had both Leyland and Ford engine Hymacs and I see no difference in performance engine wise. Transmission wise the differences are huge.

Re: age of a jcb 3d

Very very rare 1968 JCB 3D on Ebay. Only made like this in 1968. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JCB-3C2-Rear-Digger-Yard-Machine-Front-End-Loader-Sitemaster-Wheeled-Loader-/172163361944?hash=item2815bc6c98:g:3c8AAOSwjMJXCpb- Here is what some looked like in 1969. Is this like the one you had a go on Mart...
