Re: JCB 3C Mk2 Brakes

Yeah I jacked it up and the wheel free wheels easy. The noise is worse the faster you go. I really would need further investigation. I want to feel if the vibration is worse at the brake pedal. The digger drives fine in all gears. There is no noise when driving into a pile of clay. There is very lit...

JCB 3C Mk2 Brakes

I was driving a 3Cmk2 with the Brockhouse transmission and there is a loud clunking/ clicking noise from what seems to be the left rear wheel. The noise is exactly the same noise as you would quite often hear after braking very heavy on one of these machines or when you would have the brakes stickin...

Re: JCB 3c MK3 new addition

The chassis plate checks out as a 78 alright. The Powertrain Build 5 only came out in 1979. I'm not sure what the chassis numbering was like for the Build 3's. Its possible it was a Build 3 at one time but I would need to see pictures of the dash and floor plates. Julian Carder would know.

Re: JCB 3c MK3 new addition

I looked at that Lemon Chrome BS Code and it matches best to Traffic Yellow RAL 1023 which is a paint that I know that one of our forum members uses on his collection of restored Mk1 range (early Sixties). Chrome Yellow RAL 1007 is a darker more orangey yellow and is used on 3CX's. RAL 1012 Lemon ye...

Re: Year of manufacture

Julian Carder has the sales records for all JCB's. By my rough reckoning, its a 1978. Its the last of the 10 speed or Build 3 torque era.

Re: Hymac leyland engine fuel filter change

Draining the tank is all for nothing if you don't remove the inspection plate on the tank and clean out the inside. The tank on a Hymac doesn't usually give that much bother with dirt because of the shape of it. Tandem fuel filters and sediment bowls should be all you need.
