Re: Starting problem - fuel

Thanks again to everyone's replies, very much appreciated. So in summary, its solved. In the last post I said I would try the "sticky shut off linkage fix" which is to hold the throttle wide open which I did with a spring, then tapping the top and side of the pump with a hammer. There was ...

Re: Starting problem - fuel

So a short update. Regulator was reassembled with the fibre washer and new filter. The pump fills with fuel, bleeding from the side and top screws. Still nothing out of the injectors. To be sure I have disconnected the injector pipe from the pump, this will allow me to see it spitting fuel when it e...

Re: Starting problem - fuel

Hi All, thanks for your replies. Just to run through the points made... I have stripped and rebuilt the regulating valve, but I've ordered a new fibre washer as the installed item looked ropey. Fuel was fresh Definitely diesel! Update Now I have slept on it there seems to be a lack of fuel as witnes...

Re: Starting problem - fuel

Hi Jeremy, yes, for over a year in my possession perfectly started first turn of the key even in the coldest winter day. It was a top up of fuel.

Side note, I've read about the shut down mechanism sticking - needs a tap to release it? I may pop the cover and take a look.

Starting problem - fuel

Hello all, Yesterday I added around 50L of diesel to my 1984 3CX. A few minutes later and she was not happy, progressively loosing power and almost stalling. I figured it would be a sludge disturbance getting into the fuel line. I had a spare filter, so changed it (the old was full of sludge) and re...

Re: Local Kingpost Mechanic Required

That's looks like a big job. One suggestion I'd possible do, is put a long ditching bucket on, so its pretty stable when detached. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/72264_3300TRSIUFCWC1678028464.jpg http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/72264_O3YIH91NJWZ71678028464...

Re: Local Kingpost Mechanic Required

Hi Norm, apologies for the late reply. My boom was sloppy in the horizontal axis, eventually a couple of bangs and the splines gave out meaning that the top of the kingpost could be seen turning, but the boom stays still or falls in the direction of gravity. Upon stripping the splines on the carried...

King Post refit - gear / rack issue

Hi - I've stripped and about to start rebuilding my machine with its new kingpost and carrier, seem to have hit a problem. The gear that interface to the rack will not go back in. I was offering up prior to putting the whole assembly to check fit, and the gear will not slide up into the rack. I'm no...

Re: JCB 3cx Project 8 Dump Pedal

Hi - probably be covered better by others but mine will only just creep on idle in forward, the brakes control the forward or reverse movement. Is your idle speed too high? I have a lever on the right for manually holding the engine at a higher RPM for working...is this set in a higher position? Ref...
