Re: Hi, New Owner Thwaites Nimbus 40M box

I have the same dumper and the clutch has started making a noise when pedal depressed. Would that be a thrust bearing? Quiet when out but noisy when in. Is it easy to replace?

Re: Old Benford info please

Here are more photos. Rear deck removed as I am hoping to replace the steering ball joints but that back panel is welded on so it needs cutting off and then refitting with bolts. All the bucket pins need replacing etc. . http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/65574_1YY84GH2RLHC81562753...

Re: Old Benford info please

Sorry been off the site for a while. My dumper has been busy recently as we have just finished clearing the last half acre of ground so with digger on site the dumper has been well worth the £200 I paid for it! I have not had chance to do much to it except essential servicing including greasing all ...

Petter fuel cap missing

I have lost the fuel cap off my Thwaites single cylinder so can anyone help with finding a replacement? It is a screw on type of around 1970 year.
Thanks all

Thwaites/Benford etc drum brakes

Just to say if anyone needs Lockheed type brake parts try Western Towing. They seem to have the old stuff available still.
For the Lister engines try Marine Engine Services
Just passing on my experiences.

Tractor rims 24x12

I am looking for a supplier of tractor wheel rims. I am helping a guy out in Ireland who is finding it hard to source replacement rims. I have found these in USA but hope there is a UK outlet (new or used) so I can collect for him.
Many thanks

Rear tyres

If you are using standard treaded tyres on your small Winget or Thwaites dumper then get a set of three rib tractor front tyres (as should be on there as standard) and you will find the steering is transformed as in having power steering!! The difference is amazing. Using car tyres puts strain on th...

Re: Hello everyone, I.D my little dumper please

I understand that using the easier option of 15 inch Landrover wheels and tyres or similar on the rear steering can lead to early failure of the steering box. Using the correct 16 inch three ribbed tyres means there is much less rubber in contact with the ground thus making steering easier and less ...

Rod brakes repairs tip

I thought I would share this tip for anyone with an older dumper with rod operated brakes. It is difficult to find parts now for Lockheed brakes especially in Ireland. I needed to replace the short cable from the foot brake pedal to the brake actuator on the front axle beam. The cable goes over the ...
