Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

I am going to get back to working on this machine here in August hopefully, I have several projects backing up that I need the backhoe for. I just need to justify the cost of the repairs to the wife vs renting a machine for the weekend, which should be easy enough.

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

No pedal even when pumping on the left side. Slight pedal on the right side, and that is the only side that works, kinda. I will have to get a inline connector to shut down one of the clamps at a time to find the culprit, or culprits. The leak is substantial, but I do not run the machine much since ...

The red arrow shows the front of where I think the leak is, although this is not a picture of my machine, just a google image of the area.

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

I tried to use it to dig for some trees earlier this week. I have not fixed the rear end yet, just was using the hoe to push/pull me around. That was a mistake as my property has a good slope to it and I found out that one of the brakes does not work at all, the left side when sitting on the seat fa...

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

I have found some BSP ends online for not too bad of a price compared to locally. I also was able to locate the sight tube for the hydraulic fluid. Just as I suspected, when the machine got a quick shot of paint they painted directly over the tube. I will be putting a new clear tube on it the next t...

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

I will have to check and see if there is a sight glass that they painted over, which is probably the case.

I will have to look for BSP ends. I did see someone that had standard threads to BSP adapters. Depending on if there is room to hook in an adapter vs just getting the BSP ends.

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

Got it home, definitely has a few hydraulic hose leaks that are going to need repaired/replaced. Where is the best place to buy hose ends or whole hoses? I know that they are metric, and every place around me only stocks standard hose ends. I would hate to have to pay dealer prices on hoses when I k...

Re: 1985 3Cx extra dig ; help please

You should need to bleed the air out of the injector lines to get fuel to the injectors. Crack the injection lines at the injectors then crank the motor over till you get fuel at the injectors and then tighten them back up. Then start it, it will crank a little long but should fire off fairly quickl...

Re: New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

I was able to download the manual for the machine from the site. On page #350 of the JCB workshop manual it shows the pin that was broken, part number 11 and he also had gear number 12 out, but it appeared to be in good shape. No idea why it would have bent/broke unless it had walked out from what I...

New to me 1980? JCB 3C III

Hey guys seems as though this website is the place to go to find information about a JCB 3C III. I just bought this machine last night, runs and booms/buckets/ etc all work but it will not move under it's own power. Previous owner showed me the gears and pins from the rear end and the pins were bent...
