Re: Hiss Bang!
Cheers for the help, I've ordered a plug. So what would be the clacking noise, and the smoke from the breather. Looking at the bores closer, two of them look scored quite badly, I can feel them with my finger. Also from the last rebuild I did, because of the different block (a 4.212 we think) and th...

Re: Hiss Bang!
I can't find anything relating to a core plug. Is there another name for it?
It was breathing heavily again, does this mean it's a piston ring job? or would a blown head gasket cause this?

Hiss Bang!
JCB 3CX black cab 1987 Was working her hard today then the engine started making a clacking noise, then smoke out of the breather, switched her off and a big hiss and bang out of the breather. Checked water, couldn't see the level, filled with water, lots of boiling and gargling and water pissing ou...

Re: JCB 3CX slow hydraulics.
Hi Fred From what I understand, if the ARV stops at 2500 then the MRV won't have a chance to kick in, so the reading would only be 2500 on the head side? So there should only be 3500 on the rod side because the MRV will kick in before the ARV at 4500? I have only taken readings on the backhoe, while...

Hi Mike. These are the loader valve pressure settings. Main relief valve. (MRV) 3,420 to 3,500 [Unloader 3,000 to 3,100] Auxiliary relief valve (ARV) Ram (head side) 2,500 to 2,600 Ram (rod side) 4,500 to 4,600 In my previous post I asked you where you connected your pressure gauge :?: :?: I suspec...

Re: JCB 3CX worn out Kingpins.
with all the parts disconnected from the hub assy {wheel, track rod and power steering ram}you need to cut the kingpin at top and bottom of the axle so you can remove the hub assy. then make sure the kingpin is cut flush with the top of the axle. then make a drift with a handle {as near to the same...

Re: JCB 3CX worn out Kingpins.
Should come out either way. You're likely going to need a large amount of heat on the axle ends.Mine needed heat and I sledged the axle down the way, with a steel bar between the ground and the bottom of the king pin.It left the top of the axle somewhat battered but it was either that or take the ax...

Re: Removing a kingpin pin.
I've just raised a new topic that follows on from this one. I managed to drill out the retaining pin. But can't move the main pin, no matter how hard I bash it!

JCB 3CX worn out Kingpins.
More worn out parts on the old girl. I'm trying to change the kingpins on the front axle. I have managed to drill out the retaining pin, but the main pin wont budge, even with a full swing of a sledge hammer. Is there a certain direction they should come out, i.e. up or down or either? IMAG1823.jpg

Re: JCB 3CX slow hydraulics.
It managed to get to 2500psi when the ram maxes out.
Gave her a bit of hard work and all seems good.
If anyone could confirm the actual pressure readings I should be expecting, would be much appreciated.
