Re: 1988 JCB 3xc 4WD Grey Cab

I usually get my oil from JCB as the local depot is close by, i think it's JCB special gear oil that i used in the back axle and its just a light minetal or 10 grsde hydraulic oil that is used for the brakes, also if you drain the kingpost you need to refill with EP 90 oil, i have got mine in bits a...

Re: 1988 JCB 3xc 4WD Grey Cab

Yes those master cylinders are a pain to do, i did a 1994 project 8 last year, the fluid that you need is light mineral oil. Once you have done the pedal master cylinders and fillled the resevoir up you will need to bleed the brakes though, The bleed nipples are on the top if the axle one on each si...

Re: What Sort Of Hydraulic Oil?

On your machine i would use 46 grade hydraulic oil i think you are about right on price a 20 litre drum is around the £40 mark. Have a look on ebay sometime you can get a good deal with free delivery.

Re: JCB 3CX Back hoe not slewing left/right

You wont feel much with the leaver all it is doing is letting the pressure off from the four hydraulic clamps that hold the kingpost in place, The are the four round pots two at the top and two at the bottomof the kingpost corners, once the pressure is released then the kingpost will move.

Re: JCB 3CX Back hoe not slewing left/right

If your backhoe wont slide, i would unlock it using the lever which is next the the backhoe levers as you said the padlock sign gives it away. With it unlocked do a little digging and after a little bit of ork hopefully you will see the kingpost moving only a little bit once it is free with the legs...

Re: JCB 3CX Back hoe not slewing left/right

The master cylinder which is on the left hand side when you are facing the back (ie using the backhoe) is for the boom lock when you are travelling the machine on the road or leaving it parked up with the cackhoe in the travel postion you release the handle that looks a bit like a handbrake handle a...
