The fuse was checked because it looked a bit iffy and was found to be OK. A thought has crossed my mind that it could be the IGN switch, naturally the key isn't the correct one and is a bit stiff to turn and once started sometimes have to turn it back to disengage the starter, so if it's turned to f...

If I wire the dynamo to the battery should it run like an electric motor and if it spins does that mean it's OK?

The dynamo is off the loco now and is going to be checked by some people in the know (allegedly) Can the dynamo lose its magnetism after long periods of inactivity?

Been wrestling with the charging system today because it isn't We've narrowed it down to the dynamo, had a look at the brushes etc and it's brand new in there so it's over to someone that knows, :dizzy:

The latest is I got it running this afternoon, not without a few snags (wouldn't be any fun otherwise) put a few pics up, all of it running. The excess fuel return pipe to the tank is badly corroded (leaking badly so that needs replacing (another day) but the engine is as sweet as a nut. Apparently ...

I've used the nut and washer method a few times and with success. the template idea I've used before where little stud was available, also using anti clockwise drill bits with template also worked.

What about a template with the holes the same PCD as the stud holes fixed by OK stud holes to give you an accurate guide, is the block ally or iron?
