Re: Hunslett shunter

Yes Wayne, it has been heated and beaten. Every moveable linkage on that Loco's braking system is (was) seized. There are only 2 grease points in the whole system. they're on the main brake crank, and they were the worst ones to free. Don't think it's been lubed since year of manufacture(1960)

Re: Seasons Greetings

A guy I know has just bought an old Benford 5000 it went a 100 yds (old money ) and burst the back axle casing, the two front half shafts are missing so it's marooned. He says that he's been offered 2 used axles for £500 (not off the same bloke) Don't know if that's a good price or not.

Re: Hunslett shunter

Hi all.
I managed to get the front pair of brakes off with the help of the O/A torch. Going to fettle and refit before attacking the rear two so as not to have to many bits lying around.

Re: Hunslett shunter

Fitted ALT to front of engine, it's driven off cooling fan belt, Longer belt fitted, Dynamo is retained at back of block to save making a blanking plate. Made a guard for the ALT as it was close to the outside of the engine compartment.

Could there be a vacuum in the tank?
