Ford 550 jack ram

Hi I have a Ford 550 digger, and the jack / stabiliser ram has sprung a leak, this is due to the external pipe light that runs the length of the ram for closing the ram rusting through. Question is how to replace the pipe? I have a new pipe and could weld it on and use industrial chemical metal the ...

Re: JCB's and the law on the road

I bought a old Ford 550 without a V5, it had not been taxed for years. I applied for a V5 in the normal way and had to pay £19, but had the machine insured so when the V5 was issued I got road tax right away, otherwise you would need to SORN as soon as you got the V5 the way the rules are now. mine ...

Ford 550, hydraulic power.

I have a Ford 550 that I bought last year, I have not done a lot of work with it yet but to day I was shifting a heap of ground and found the back actor struggled to lift a full bucket when fully extended, the back actor bucket is 24" so I would not think it's to big, also it won't lift the mac...

Ford 550 gearbox oil ?

I have a Ford 550 with the torque gearbox and was wondering what oil this uses, don't suppose it will be standard hydraulic oil as that would be to easy. If anyone has a operators hand book for this machine and would be willing to sell it I would be interested.
Thanks,
Ronnie.

Re: My Ford 550

Hi after spending yesterday playing with my Ford 550 I have got the machine to idle properly and now the torque converter works ok. The side shift seems well jammed and wont shift even trying a power pack ram, is it possible to remove the clamping rams as I think they are sized. I have got a manual ...
