I no nothing about these but things I would check would be correct oil type, correct oil level, are screens and filters clean

If it's still no good I would check for a internal leak

Bare in mind I no nothing about this at all and just using what to me is common sense

no idea Pat, it is LHD drive and has spider type wheels as they are called out here so you maybe right then again I think all most all cranes are LHD so maybe forget my thinking there

Came across this photo from the Snowy Mountain Scheme getting built in the 1950's taken near Cabramurra TD 24 and Leyland something ??? When it stops running does it still have fuel in the carby ??? When you crank the throttle a few times can you see or smell fuel ?? If not there may well be something floating around in the fuel tank thats getting sucked in or restricting the inlet a bit and when it goes under load a lot it struggle...

I think they sold quite well to start with but then the length laws changed and market they were suited to (b double) and conventional trucks took over

thats pretty good MPG for what it is, as in a fairly old school motor and a heavy lump of a truck as well
