Re: Replacing JCB 3cx (1988) windscreen

Hi essexpete, I've been rebuilding the engine and doing some paintwork so let the insurance lapse while the machine was out of use. I could kick myself for breaking the glass, it was down to my own stupid carelessness so I'm looking for a low cost way out that I can live with in my head. Owl want ab...

Replacing JCB 3cx (1988) windscreen

Hi Guys, I broke the windscreen today on my 3cx project 7. Owl do the glass at a reasonable price so I'm thinking of fitting it myself, anybody done this and got any hints? I'm guessing that its corded into the rubber like most glass but not sure if there is any specific 'best way' to tackle it. Bil...

Re: JCB 3C2 Sump Guard

I'm not familiar with the 3C2 but maybe the nuts started life captive or welded in? Barring any obvious method I think I would attack it with the ag and worry about it later.

Re: JCB Paint change

Unfortunately all the glass and the rubbers are missing, there's a lot of glazed area so no matter who supplies the glass it would cost too much. I have more or less decided to just do the windscreen for now using Makron (4mm polycarbonate), our local plastics chappie has it in stock and will cut it...

Re: International 100b series 2 loader Help

I had a 100b about 20 years ago, tracks and sprockets were well past it but used carefully it still did a brilliant job. When I first had it (bought it as non working) it was delivered on a skip lorry which I thought was fascinating, the driver just swung it off on chains just like unloading a skip!...

Re: JCB Paint change

Thanks Martyn, yes I may take you up on your offer of paint codes, with the 3cx I think its best to match up whatever is on there but with the 2b it would be nice to put it in its original livery. Managed to get a cab for it a week ago and am presently re-fabricating the bottom 6" all the way a...

Re: JCB Paint change

Hi Martyn, yes its a grey cab, the paint supplier has 'old jcb yellow' and 'new jcb yellow', I've emailed them and asked for a dab of each as a colour sample and I think it will be the new. I also have an old jcb 2b but thats a much lighter yellow, I think I might have real problems matching that so...

Re: JCB Paint change

Thanks Stormin, it's had a very good complete spray job at some time in the last 4/5 years so mutch of it is ok, would like to go over some of the lower parts, the business end of the backhoe etc to keep it nice and fend off the rust. The paint supplier is an online seller so can't take it to them b...

JCB Paint change

Hi can anyone tell me when JCB started using the newer yellow paint, My 3cx is 1988 and I thought it should be the older version but it seems darker so maybe not, or might be an odball paint. I only need to spray parts of it and I'm anxious to avoid the 'patchwork quilt' effect. bilco

Re: 3CX overheat :(

I'd say it's 100% the pump, everything you have described is exactly the same as mine was. When you remove the pump try to get (I think its the rearmost) stud to come out rather than the nut off, on mine the pump was sliding back on the stud but wouldnt clear the frame . bilco
