Re: Staliser ram rebuild.

Hi Thanks very much for your answer to my question. When I reassemble the piston to the rod how do you get the dowel to line up with the hole in the rod? Do you just drill a new hole or do you mark the piston and rod before removal? Thanks in advance. Sam. If fitting new rod and or piston nut they ...

Re: Total novice just bought a JCB 5C - help!

Hi Malcom, I too wish you success with your purchase. The engine servicing you will be familiar with. I don't know the 5C but here are a few pointers for the hydraulics. There will be a washable meatal suction strainer on the pickup in the hydraulic tank and in a long service machine like yours it w...

Re: 3c3 - Cleaning hydraulic oil strainer

Hi, When you remove the plate you will loose all the oil in the reservoir, say about half the total hydraulic oil. Be prepared for, (from memory), possibly 15 or 20 gallons, (100 litres). Drain the oil through the drain plug in the plate before removing it. Fully extend all rams to minimise the oil ...

Re: Staliser ram rebuild.

Hi, It's not an Allen bolt under the seal, but a dowel. The dowell will have a threaded hole tapped into it so that you can insert a bolt to pull it out. JCB also use Threadlock or Loctite to secure the piston nut and gland seal, (end cap), housing. These are usually very tight and difficult to undo...

Is the dustcart a Market Transport body? They appear to be building a landfill embankment right beside a new build? For me the interesting thing in that pic. is the Cletrac, (BLAW-KNOX)??, dozer similar to the one "Dinky Toys" made some 70 years ago. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/...

Re: Richards and Wallington

Hi Ian, Great to see those pics, not only did I work on plant on hire to Christiani Shand on that job circa 1969, (I was there to repair a Case 450 the day before the crane came off the top), but I crossed that bridge a couple of times as a boy on trips to Barry Island. Over the bridge, through the ...
