Re: 3cx lost forward

Make sure the owner knows to to use the dump pedal for feathering.

…. he referred to it as the clutch, so I guess he does - thanks Pete

Re: 3cx lost forward

Just to report back - on my advise the owner lengthened the operating rod and tightened the big nut thing up (it was loose) and she now has forward drive :D - glad we did not have to go in deeper, especially as a pinch nut and spline on the lever system has been crudely welded together in the past :...

Re: 3cx lost forward

Here it is -: …. It was C reg, an 85 ? http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/2345_3DZQLIUEHJMS81679687076.jpg It is rods, with a lever on the side of the column - and a cable to the dump valve from the pedal that’s in the centre of the shuttle - does this look like it’s moving all the...

Re: 3cx lost forward

…. from what I can tell up to No.400000 was cable ? so if 315812 is correct then it has a rod down the side of the column to a lever, then by cable to the direction selector on the back of the box - let’s hope it’s that sloppy it’s not pulling/pushing to full forward and it’s not a blown seal, block...

Re: 3cx lost forward

All I know is it’s a 1986 3cx and the VIN off it’s log book is 315812 - I’m going to look at it on Friday after work - owner says he thinks it a linkage shifter on the left and it looks like it is rotating an actuator ? not sure that he knows what he is looking at or if he is even right, he says flu...

3cx lost forward

I have been offered an Allen Scythe for free, (I already have one , ! ) if I can get a 3cx moving forwards again - how big a job could it be ? - it was doing both last week, but felt funny going into forward (apparently) right before it stopped being able to select it - that’s all I know. Thanks Andy

Re: Massey 35x - a few questions

…. just a small update, it’s been a little beauty - 3’x 4’ x 8’ bails not a problem - we had some contractors in to do the bailing but their loader was too big to get to the small barns - not a problem for the 35, transported across 3 fields on the rear bail spikes and then managed to stack them 2 h...

Re: Massey 35x - a few questions

..... I have lubricated all the non grease nippled pivots and joints with a liberal spray of ‘Fluid-Film’ as recommended by a friend.

Re: Massey 35x - a few questions

Its being put to good use and I have mastered the loader, I used the muck fork and it was OK, it does have three tines missing, but I am working on that ( I have two bent ones with sheared studs) but the bucket is better for the moving the heap as I found yesterday - the latest question is should I ...

Re: Anyone any good at alternator bodgery? E1A Major

I have just started to repair the alternator from the MF 35X from Beckside Care Farm where I am volunteering - I have put a small video up on my YouTube channel showing progress - https://youtu.be/40Ih6RrXY2I - the brushes and slip ring are shagged.
