What Sort Of Hydraulic Oil?

Doing a few small jobs on the old 3MkII. She probably needs a fair bit of oil too. JCB have a place not too far away and we've gotten the branded oil up to now. If I remember rightly it's been about €50 for a 20l drum. Is that expensive? It is when you've a lot to put in  What grade or brand of...

Re: JCB 3C11 Back actor play

My father has a 3MkII with a sloppy slew. It's a small bit different to the other pics so I said I'd just check with the experts :D In the first pic it has a large plug with a breather coming put of it - I'm guessing this is where you fill it up. In the second there are two plugs. The big one at the...

Rubber Seal Between Cab And Chassis

I'm looking for a replacement for the seal that goes between the cab and chassis on an old JCB (3MkII). The one on ours has deteriorated and now acts like a sponge, holding in water and slowly rotting the bottom of the cab (is this why they all rotted?). Is there a similar type seal/rubber/product t...

Where To Get Rubber Boots For Gearsticks/Levers?

Looking to spruce up the old machine (JCB 3MkII) a bit. Been searching online for some rubber boots for the gearsticks and control levers but no joy. I'm guessing JCB still do them (at a price) and I suppose Charnleys do the gearstick boots, is there anyone else out there? What sort of price am I lo...

Hydraulic Oil VERY Slow To Fill

Burst a pipe as you do. Put the new one on in less than five minutes, then spent the rest of the day trying to top up the oil. At a rough guess it was probably taking a pint every 10 minutes :arrrrgh: Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it's so slow?? It's a JCB 3MkII btw

Leaking Backhoe Lever

I could do with a bit of advice if someone has the time to spare. My Dads JCB 3MkII has a few oil leaks we're trying to cure. There's a small one on the left lever that controls the backhoe. I tried undoing the four bolts at the top but they were going nowhere and I was afraid I was going to ring th...

Re: Rubber Boots for Gearstick and Backhoe Controls

Thanks for the offer Steelfab but I still have quite a bit of muck to shift inside the cab first! Just last week I cleaned out about 6in of soil, hay, hydraulic oil and two coats from the rear footwell

Rubber Boots for Gearstick and Backhoe Controls

The boots on my Dads machine are slowly disintegrating and I'd like to get some new ones to keep the dirt away. Had a quick look on eBay and came up with nothing. Does anyone know where I can get some and what sort of price I'd have to pay? Cheers

How Do I Replace Hydraulic Oil?

Looking to tidy up my fathers JCB (3MkII). Just wondering how I go about draining the hydraulic oil and replacing the filter. How much oil do I need? Are there any other things I need to do? Thanks in advance
