There was no difference other than the name-Galion-Distington-Carlisle and Wakefield. I know there is a wakefield thread but I'm here now so-

this machine is not far from me and the only mods it has is a nifty side shift added to the blade.

And here a pair of DISTINGTON graders not far from me here in Queensland. D-istington a.JPG distington rad.jpg distington serial.jpg and a CARLISLE I drove in New Zealand in the mid 1950's. The Carlisle was produced as a model 200 and the Distington as a B90 but ALL were license built GALION model 9...

In 1954 the Govt. of South Australia bought 11 of these machines and this one is still in existance in S.A. not far from the mine site where it worked Radium Hill.

Hi Bruce, no she's a bit high in the sky on a waste dump but not far from the drowned dragline. The ladder at the front is the fire escape. these machines burn from the back end.

Wakefield and Carlyle graders were British built "Galion" everything was interchangable with the american machines as was "Adams" and "Huber-Warco" I will post some pics in the new year.

They had to bring another digger in to lift her up. When she nosed over the low oil alarm shut down, then when level was able to walk back out. Martin, I have a couple pics somewhere of a D10 that fell in a crusher surge pile.

digger takes a nosedive

this happened in a coalmine here in Qld. was just tramming along when the ground opened up. And yes I have posted it before in another forum.

just google Ensham Mine floods. it's here in central Queensland. A large dragline also went under, she was dryed out and running again a couple weeks ago.
