Re: BTD6 rebuilt in Australia First post
nice job there and good to see Inters being restored even though getting parts is very difficult and finals are prone to failure. Some come up cheap here in Tassie from time to time but usually the finals are no good and the machine is trashed to death. Interesting use of D3 gear - something I did w...

Re: Can you identify this for me?
It has a Borg Warner transmission commonly used in mini dozer and US ride on tractors. Could be US made, eg Power King or Trackmaster or Clarke?

Re: Quiz time - Whats this Dozer???
looks a bit like a modified Cletrac crawler, like one I looked at in Tasmania years ago but which was too far gone to save.

Re: Buying a Caterpillar D4 (or not)
I have the same machine and they are well built but yes, overhauling the track gear is expensive and cost up to 10k Adollars for new chains, rollers and plates. Whilst they are quite usefull, the engine is somewhat underpowered for a machine this size, so don't expect any miracles when pushing dirt ...

The main connectors under t...

Re: Fowler resto tas
Hi Eric, I am in the Huon, southern Tas. Fred, we are checking chains out and found the dimentions of D7d shows 3/4" bolt holes instead of 5/8". All other sizes look good. Have a man checking sizes of D7c as they had 36 links, same as Fowler, where D7d had 37 links. He thinks they may hav...

Re: Fowler resto tas
Cat dealers used to supply a drill suited to drilling pads, otherwise I've heard that a masonery drill on low speed with lots of coolant works.
