Jeremy, you won't be disappointed, turn off the M6 at Penrith onto the A66 towards Keswick, after you go through Scales look for the signs which take you to the Vintage Excavator Museum at Threlkeld and its about a mile off the A66. Nearest biggish town is Keswick for B&B, hotels etc. Also check...

An old 17 RB, the workings of the undercarriage of an RB 10 I think and a Ruston Erie mobile!! :)

As promised some more pics of RB's at Threlkeld, I have some pics of Priestmans, Smiths, Jones etc. Will put them all together on a section of Cranes.

Draglines are one of my favorite type of machines. Bob Davis of SE Daviis at Astwood bank has got a good selection of R B's.Also the vintage excavator trust at Threlkeld.It would be great if someone from Threlkeld would post on this site. Know Terry quite well but have not seen him for a few years, he came off cranes after a leg injury. We worked together at Marsh Plant, Uxbridge, believe he lives in Lincs. now and runs the lifting-world.co.uk site.

Blimey times have changed since i worked on the railways when it came to replacing track, removing spoil and laying new sections of track you normally got 3 x Hymac 580c loading what we called os wagons the we would take them away on Lowmac wagons.
