there where quite a few but simple changes the last cat 245bme i had was as rob points out quite a bit light than the 245dme which was my next machine had the cat d9 dozer undercarriage main boom was better built using diffrent welding technque mine had a short boom as there where 2 sizes & cho...

i did a stint on 1 of these 4 a few month with a company i worked 4 back in the early 90.s the 219 was a cat 215 with a 225 undercarriage spent most of my time on cat 245 dme on mass muckshifting sadly those days have gone now
