Re: Cat HMS factory Dortmund

Stuart, Thanks for the great photos! I took a tour there in 1990 when things were still red and off-white, but no photos were permitted at that time. Jeremy, O&K had at least five manufacturing plants in Germany, and more in other countries. The rail stock division went to Bombardier and is stil...

Re: Northwests still working

Paul, Resistance was futile and I couldn't wait! I'm still having great difficulty accepting the fact that these machines have been so close (2hrs driving) for decades and I never knew it??? Jeremy, Action photos are the goal and they will come, but my tour yesterday wasn't what it could have been b...

Re: question ?

Are you looking for any particular brochures. I am!!! Cable shovels and draglines, and hydraulic face shovels. My most wanted piece at this time is the Terex/O&K RH40-F shown below. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/post_img/104539_70577446056420780a1226.jpg Original URL: http://i51....

Northwests still working

Yesterday I was filling my vehicle with fuel and a guy came up to me and asked "you like those things?" I didn't know what he was referring to, so I asked him what he meant. He said "Northwest crawlers". I happened to be wearing the shirt shown below. http://www.classicmachinery....

Re: New Hyundai 360 model

This is an interesting model in that it represents a Hyundai "economy" excavator built in China for poorer markets, and that simultaneously there is another 1:40 scale model available of the "full quality" version of the 210-9 (same size unit) coming out of Korea. The two are dis...

Re: Who built this excavator?????

Hey Fred, Thanks for the clarification on the carrier! I've never seen a tandem axle FT6 or FT7 on any of my trips to your country over the last 30 years. But back to the mystery trivia at hand; would I be correct in that this TU came to the UK in components and was simply assembled there? I'm also ...

Re: Who built this excavator?????

Hi Fred, Respectfully, I have to wonder if you're intentionally presenting us with a ruse? No doubt "built" is the most important word in your question??? I'm thinking there's a story here and look forward to reading it. The photo you posted shows a Poclain model TU mounted on the old post...

Re: Unknown Backhoe

Hey Dave,

It's an RH30. I think the unusual elevated and more rearward cab makes it seem larger than it actually is in photos. I'm thinking there is an article on this exact machine in one of the O&K magazines, but I don't have time right now to search for it.
